It was lovely to be back last week for WOYWW, thank you to those who sent messages and visited. I tried to visit as many as I possibly could.
This week finds me up to my neck in Male cards, not my favourite to do. This time of year in our family it is all male birthdays, even my Niece in law who is due in a few weeks is going to have a boy!
Here's the desk....

I am just finishing of the guitar card for a cousin of mine who has a birthday soon. I found my Fiskars cutter when I was moving some stuff around at the weekend. I shifted everything to make room for my Husband to run a cable to connect me to the internet directly as I will get a much faster speed that way, only to find that he then didn't have a drill bit big enough to complete the job...grrr! but at least I found my cutter. I remember stashing it away when the blade went dull. I bought some blades but they were the wrong ones, they were Docraft ones so I assumed they wouldn't fit, but guess what....they do!
I am busy downloading a paper pack from Far Far Hill who have fantastic freebie papers etc, although the download is a pain as you can only do one per half hour. I tend to have it running in the background while I craft if there s something I need. Can you see my Maggie under the desk? Her favourite place when I am crafting.

Firstly I apologise for my very long absence. But if you will have me I would like to come back to the fold, so to speak.

Well straight to it...here is my desk

I can't even remember if I have visited since I brought my craft desk downstairs? Doubt if any of you will remember either so no matter. What can we see....well I used to be teased for being too tidy, looks like that has changed a bit doesn't it?
Lets start bottom right. This is a card ready for Fathers Day for my Husbands dad. The image is a digi from Digistamp Boutique of two bear glasses. I have coloured with Promarkers and done the obligatory clear glaze to look like condensation on the glasses. The papers were from a very old scrapbook kit. There is a nice grungy type label that came off some new jeans that I couldn't throw away...I am sure it will be useful for something. in front of the keyboard my never ending Tesco vouchers for my online shops. In front of the keyboard are two images I have just decoupaged up ready for two male birthday cards I need to make soon. One is a vintage camera and the other an old fashioned gramophone thingy. To the left I have a card sent to me by Di Wray with a die I recently won from her, which turned into a sway eventually, but that's another story. To the left packaging from a delivery of embossing folders from Crafters Companion. I had an email code for 30% off and combined with an offer on the folders that was running, well I couldn't resist. Oh My Goodness. that is embarrassing!!!! I have just seen my bra!!!!!! sat on the table waiting to be repaired. Being a larger lady in that department IYNWIM, they often need attention. This one almost cut my throat the other day. I bent to empty the washing machine and a bone that had been sneeking up the middle got me....right in the throat!!!!I hadn't planned on sharing that with the world at large, I didn't notice it on my desk....but I must empty that bin!

I am really, really sorry, but as you can see below I have had a tidy up. I decided yesterday that as I no longer needed the second works computer on my desk it should go, no point wasting space. So it is now stashed under the desk out of the way. My Techie Son suggested using the spare monitor as a second screen on my machine. A machine that is so old it is started by crank handle! Apparently, once you have a second screen to drag and drop onto you will never go back to one. Well, once I get the second one connected ( I need a wizzy cable??) I will let you know. So a very disappointing desk for you all to see really. You can just see on the floor my unmounted stamp collection, I am in the middle of stamping them all onto card to make an indexing system. A long job, made longer by the fact that there are, frankly, more interesting things to do in life.....but I will get there. I am wondering whether to go the whole hog and scan the images too...your thoughts please?

The only other things of interest are the printout of our holiday place this year. We haven't been able to have a holiday for three years due to the business problems, so we are going to this year, we have booked a lovely looking cottage.
In an effort to save a little face, there is a card I have made for my Daughter's Flute teacher using a cutting file from Birds Cards. Fantastic site with lots of freebies.

It is Wednesday again...already, so its time to have a nosey around everyone's desk. Apologies for being a bit late to joint he party today. Had to go out this morning and then when I got back I grabbed some time in the garden as it was sunny (yes SUNNY!!!)
So here I am today

Maggie has deserted me today as you can see from her empty bed. She is laying in the sun in the garden. So, on my desk we have a new small sewing machine bought from Ebay, arrived yesterday. Quite limited in the kind of stitches, but it does do proper stitches, not the chain stitch on the back kind. My super duper machine has broken and I cant get a reply to my emails from the local repair shop. (Don't you just hate that?). My trusty old sewing machine weighs a ton, and I just don't want to struggle it out of the cupboard just to stitch on a card....so this is my solution to that problem and I think it will do nicely. Also on the desk the start of a quick card for my Son's friend. He turns 17  tomorrow so it is a driving theme, with the price of a driving lesson inside as a gift.What else...oh a flower making cd I bought ages ago and haven't yet used. I decided I would use it more if I could cut them by machine, so am in the process of importing and tracing them in Silhouette. I think that is about it really. Hi WOYWWers!

Well, despite the nice new craft room I am afraid that today there is very little crafting going on. I have had to be really strict with myself today. It is an Admin first day.I have to do my Tax return (Booooo) and then I need to tackle the Student Finance website.....I am not looking forward to that as their site is never known for running well. It is always an uphill struggle. Here is the desk

As you can see I am ready to tackle it all. Paper work everywhere! Cup of hot water at arms length....I am a bit weird like that, hate coffee and don't really like tea that much. If you look carefully there is a part made RSVP to the left of the paperwork that needs an inner...i will get that done later. Under that is a birthday card that has been ordered, again waiting for an inner to be printed. Maggie, as usual snoozing under the desk.

WOYWW...I am back

I am totally sure that no one has missed me at all, but I am back and I am in the right frame of mind now to join in once more, if you will have me.
We have had some bad stuff to deal with here which has knocked me somewhat. I haven't been able to do anything other than the essentials for a while, but I am feeling more like connecting to the world again .
My Desk Today:-

I am presently reorganising my stamps. and I am fed up with not being able to find what I want. So I have decided to stamp them all onto cards so I can file them and catagorise them. Thanks for the idea Di!

Now any of you who remember me may think "that's not her desk" well yes it is. I used to be a bit squashed into the room upstairs above the garage. My Husband was having on of those "if we won the lottery" conversations, and one of the things he said he wanted to do was to extend the house to give my Son more room. He has a bedroom which takes a double bed and wardrobe, but not much else. He is 17 now and well into computers etc. He just needs more space. Well I pointed out that that was not going to happen, the best we could do would be to give him my room. My room came into being because I used to work from home, so needed office space. My craft room was squeezed in alongside that. With the business gone I no longer work from home, so thought that it was only fair to give him the room. After some thought and discussion between my Husband and my Son they came up with the idea that if he was to have the upstairs room  he could incorporate the xbox etc into it leaving what was the old dining room vacant....for ME!
After a lot of work, and an awful lot of lugging boxes up and down stairs (I honestly didn't know I had soooo much stuff!) this is what I now have.

 So there is the desk itself, with lots of shelves above for storage. Then to the left this is what I have.

 Panning round the room this massive cupboard was in the room already. It used to house all the kids boxed games. So most of those have now gone to Charity giving me masses of storage.

Panning round again...more trusty Ikea drawers and my A3 printer. In the Summer ( if it ever stops raining!) I will even be able to open the doors and have fresh air from the garden.
This move has worked out so much better than I ever thought it would and that has helped get me back into the swing of things. Thank you too anyone who has bothered to read this far. To see what is happening on everyone elses blog head to The Stamping Ground and check out Julia's blog.

Here is my desk this morning. What can I show you??
Well the postie came yesterday with my Martha Stewart stamp around the page. Shouldn't have bought it really, but I happened to catch it on screen and thought it looked good. Haven't had time to play yet as yesterday was busy. My Son enrolled at College, having done really well in his GCSE's he could choose the course he really wanted. We also had haircuts here yesterday so the afternoon just disappeared. Hopefully I can play today. You can also see a card I am working on. Mum wanted a card for my Cousin's Son, who is to be 11 years old and who is mad on Scrapheap Challenge etc. I thought this one would be easy, but I have found it really hard to find images that were suitable. I think I am getting there now though...just needs finishing off. Apart from all my storage there is not much more to see really.

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I tried to post this morning...but Blogger wouldn't let me. Any one else having trouble lately? Even now things are not right...my signature seems to have disappeared!
Any way, I will continue and see if I can get to the end and post. Apologies for missing the last couple of weeks, been rushed off my feet. On to business:-

My desk today.

I had a birthday card to do, which needs to be in the post tomorrow...nothing like leaving it to the last minute! I have also been working on my design team contribution for the next Quirky Crafts Challenge which I obviously can't let you see, so that is hidden under the very masculine black paper. Sorry about that, but the girls wouldn't like it! Heres a closer shot of the birthday card though...

Just a simple one for my cousin. If you like the easel, I made it from a template available at Cardmaking Paradise (see side bar). I am working with Sara to help re-organise the templates on the site. I have been using her site for years and have still come across templates I didn't know she had there.

I have missed a few Wednesday Work Desks, apologies for that to all concerned, I have been a bit tied up elsewhere.
Well here is my desk this morning

 I am in the middle of a card order. This request is for an 80th Birthday card for a Gentleman who loves to bake cakes. I searched the internet for a suitable image and found a line drawing of this baker and cake counter. I decided this would be a good thing to test my new cutter software out on, I have just treated myself to MTC software as I had heard great things about its trace abilities. I have to say so far I am impressed, however I am yet to be able to find a way to do a decoupage print and cut....which is a little disappointing. If anyone out there reading this has any tips for Print and cut using MTC and/ or Gazelle, I would be grateful to hear from you....anyway I digress!

I am really pleased with this and am off now to cut a card. I think I will use the shape that I have just used as the Quirky Crafts Challenge this week, a pull up card or sliding window. I will post when done.

A very Good Morning to you all....
Here is my desk today

Sorry it is a bit of a rubbish shot...way too dark but you see it was quite early when I took it, and of course as they have insisted on messing with the clocks again (which I still haven't adjusted too) my craftroom is dark for longer. Now if that isn't a reason for the powers that be to change the law...I don't know what is!

I am struggling to make 2 mothers day cards for the weekend. I have the main card cut and assembled. I have gone for a swirled heart swing card....which stupidly isn't in the picture (Doh! told you I wasn't with it). My problem is what to decorate it with...I am thinking hand made flowers..hence the variety of punches etc all over my desk. I think I will use a cutting file though as none of the punches seem to deliver just the right size for the project. I need to trawl though my files to find something to suit I think.

Anyway...that's me for today...not very inspiring really, sorry about that. To be more inspired by lots of other crafters nip to The Stamping Ground where Julia lets you into everyone else's home to have a nosey when they are not there...it's fun!

Hello everyone....apologies for missing a week or two...been a bit busy. Anyway I have taken a photo of my desk to share today, but have had to be a bit careful with the angle.

I am not drunk....honest. The card in the photo booth is for the new challenge on Quirky Crafts which launches on Sunday.....so I can't show you yet. But here is a sneaky look...

The brown flowery box on the shelf is a new accordion storage box I made to shore cards I have made but not yet used. The card with the 3D flower is for my Mother in Law's birthday next week...that needs an insert doing yet.

I am trying (again) to organize my unmounted stamps into something where I can actually see what I have, and ideally be able to find the one I want to use....a lot to ask it seems!

Here is my entry for the Less Is More Challenge this week.....it is a slight cheat (sorry Chrissie/Mandi), in that I did the designing of this for my Son to assemble it as it was for his sisters birthday this week and he wanted to do it himself...hope that still counts?

Hi all....very quick post today as I have heaps to get done.

Here is a shot of my desk a few minutes ago.....I am in the middle of making my entry to the Less Is More Challenge this week, the theme being Spring.

I also have to start on my design team entry for the weekend on Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog.....I think it is a tricky one this week...can't say any more, and as I haven't started it yet I can't give you a tease peek. I also have to get my daughter's birthday card done for Friday, she will be 19. I also have to start on my second unit for my Papercraft Course (details on the right). busy...busy. I was hoping to get to the Make it Show at the end of the week, but I can't see that happening now, but I guess that will give me more time to finish her card, which isn't going well at all at the moment. I keep coming back to it but it just isn't happening at the moment!

WOYWW time again already....didn't think  I was going to make it this week as we have had internet trouble again. We were off all day yesterday and the Virgin team, as they so grandly call themselves, cheerfully informed me that there was a problem in our area and that we would be back on at 9.30 on the 18th.....excuse me????18th????? I had a bit of a rant I am afraid....we have had so many problems lately it was the last straw yesterday, it was a bad day and I was already stressed out. Anyway we are back on this morning...but at a snails pace so I don't think it will last.
SO with no internet yesterday i resorted to one of the organisational jobs on my to do list....

What the heck is it???

Well some time ago I made a very crude attempt at a photo box, somewhere to photograph my cards etc. The box I made was bulky and I came across this nice thin box which originally contained some 12x12 papers. I have adapted it and am now making lots of mess trying to paint the inside black. I didn't want to line with paper as I found with the last box that I could always see the paper joins in the photos. Need to try to finish this today now as everything is in my way!

Hi All,

First of all sorry I didn't join in last week...internet problems again..which I hope are now sorted out..finally!
Two things I can show you all this week....week actually one thing and a tease.

First of all a valentines for my husband.

I am studying the Craft Qualifications Centre Certificate in Papercrafting- and this is my first card of the first unit. I wasn't sure what to expect from this course, but I am actually really pleased with it. We have to complete several units over the year, and for each one we have to produce 3 items. For each item we must complete a recipe card. When I first saw the recipe cards I thought they were a bit unnecessary, but having completed 2 now I can see their worth. They really make me think more about what I am using and why. Now you see I said I had done 2..well the other one I can't show you yet because it is for the new challenge launching on Sunday on the Quirky Crafts Challenges Blog. After being lucky enough to win one of their challenges in December I have been invited to join the design team :-). I am very happy to accept and have really enjoyed making my first real contribution. Here is a tease...

Morning Everyone.

Today I am feeling a bit down and dreading tomorrow. Tomorrow is the second anniversary of the death of my lovely Dad. Although he was suffering from several medical conditions, he died suddenly from the one of the conditions that no one was at all concerned about, and it took us all completely by surprise. I still miss him terribly, so tomorrow won't be great. I would normally visit Mum with some flowers, but she is going away for a few days at the weekend so won't be there to appreciate them. Instead I decided to make her a little something that she could take with her if she wants to.

I remembered a program I got ages ago to create photo pages laid out in such a way that the A4 sheet could be cut into from each end and scored to fold into the inside of the book. I have seen similar instructions to create photo books from 12X12 paper...but this allows you to print the photos straight onto the pages. The kit also included the chip board covers. I hadn't got around to using the kit before, you know how it is! I have to say I was pleased with the effect, the book looks professional and sturdy. I will take it up to Mum tomorrow to check she is ok.

As for my work desk this morning:-

Not a whole lot happening here really. Had a busy work day yesterday so not much crafting got started. I did receive my new copy of papercraft inspirations yesterday. There are some free templates inside. Being a lazy so and so I decided that I wouldn't be bothered to draw the templates out and cut them by hand every time I wanted to use them. So I created a cut file, just from the flower sheet at the moment, which means I can easily cut them whenever I want. I have to say though that I tried to make up the rolled flower/rose on the sheet, and didn't have much success. I curled it as described and then stuck the end, but I found that the petals wouldn't fold back without ripping. I think I may have rolled too tightly, so I will have to try again. Made me think of the cuttlebug quilling flowers actually. Does anyone have any of those? Are they any good? I wonder if  you need to buy the long bug plates to use them, anyone know?

Firstly I have to apologise for missing a couple.....if you are reading this Julia I will stand in the corner for 5 mins...just as soon as I get 5 mins to spare!!!

Ok,  so to business.... here is my desk...

 I am sorry it is such a mess, I am afraid that a general lack of time combined with several requests and projects all being due around the same time has resulted in me having several projects on the go at the same time and that of course leads to lack of workspace and a huge mess. I hate working in a complete mess, so I really need to find the time to tidy my desk. So what can you see? Well I am pleased with my latest purchase of chalk inks, you can see them on the desk there. An Ebay buy and a bargain! My little white container there belongs in the slide out drawer I have placed underneath my desk for more storage space. It used to be in my fridge, but when I had to replace my fridge freezer the other week, the drawers didn't quite make it back in the new one! Inside the box are lots of petal shapes cut from a Penny Duncan roses cutting file, awaiting construction.
The flowery thing with holes is something I have made after seeing an article on Split Coast Stampers for a faux brad maker. The article used a sheet of cardboard which you had to fold and punch holes in. The problem I had with that is that I don't have circle punches in the sizes I would want brads to be, and even if I did I don't think I would be accurate enough with my punching to get them all to line up properly. So I set about designing my own. I cut several layers on my Gazelle and glued them together to give a good depth. I sacrificed a part of an old stamping may to make the cushioned area inside...voila! a faux brad maker. Now all I need to do is cut out lots of card circles and I can make brads out of anything I want. I don't have a completed one to show you, but they are really quite realistic.
