Quirky Crafts Challenge

Evening All........well at least I hope it is is Mr Blogger is working ok!

The new challenge over at Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog should ( I hope) have been launched by now....and here is my entry.

The Theme this week is Alice In Wonderland. At first I though " great" then when I really began to think about what I wanted to create I had second thoughts......until the girls put me straight....I was overthinking it by miles and then got tied up with thinking about copyright and all that stuff. Once I took a step back and thought it through again I am back to thinking "great". SO my advice to all those who want to enter is Don't Overthink...think "in the style of Alice in Wonderland" Have fun with it...I did.
I cut the hat shape out of A4 card freehand. Then used that to make a template to cut the back of the card so it would stand. I added a top circle for definition of the to hat top (IYKWIM), and some pink card cut to a ribbon shape. The rest of the images are all ones I found by searching online for anything that reminded me of the Mad Hatters Tea Party.
The challenge is sponsored this week by The Stamping Boutique, who very kindly offered the team some stamps to work with. I chose to use the chair digistamp....
...it reminded me of the big chair that Alice sits in at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party... I printed it out twice, once on patterned card so that I could decoupage the cushion and front chair legs. The bottle and cake were found online.

Like I said have fun with it and show us your entries here.

WOYWW and Less Is More

Hi all....very quick post today as I have heaps to get done.

Here is a shot of my desk a few minutes ago.....I am in the middle of making my entry to the Less Is More Challenge this week, the theme being Spring.

I also have to start on my design team entry for the weekend on Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog.....I think it is a tricky one this week...can't say any more, and as I haven't started it yet I can't give you a tease peek. I also have to get my daughter's birthday card done for Friday, she will be 19. I also have to start on my second unit for my Papercraft Course (details on the right). busy...busy. I was hoping to get to the Make it Show at the end of the week, but I can't see that happening now, but I guess that will give me more time to finish her card, which isn't going well at all at the moment. I keep coming back to it but it just isn't happening at the moment!

Visit Julia's blog to see more interesting desks than this!
Keep well....

WOYWW

WOYWW time again already....didn't think  I was going to make it this week as we have had internet trouble again. We were off all day yesterday and the Virgin team, as they so grandly call themselves, cheerfully informed me that there was a problem in our area and that we would be back on at 9.30 on the 18th.....excuse me????18th????? I had a bit of a rant I am afraid....we have had so many problems lately it was the last straw yesterday, it was a bad day and I was already stressed out. Anyway we are back on this morning...but at a snails pace so I don't think it will last.
SO with no internet yesterday i resorted to one of the organisational jobs on my to do list....
What the heck is it???

Well some time ago I made a very crude attempt at a photo box, somewhere to photograph my cards etc. The box I made was bulky and I came across this nice thin box which originally contained some 12x12 papers. I have adapted it and am now making lots of mess trying to paint the inside black. I didn't want to line with paper as I found with the last box that I could always see the paper joins in the photos. Need to try to finish this today now as everything is in my way!

Well that's me done. Pop over to Julia's blog to see everyone else.
hugs..

Quirky Crafts Challenge Blog

If Mr Blogger's watch is right, you should be reading this on Sunday Evening,( fingers Crossed), and the new challenge over on Quirky Crafts should by now have been posted, (toes crossed too!).

The theme this week is Recycled Romance....the idea being that you produce a romantic card, but using some materials that are not only recycled, but that you would not usually use in your crafting. Quite a tricky theme...until I got into it..then the ideas came. This is the result-

I have used a square card blank in tent style. I inked the edges with a making memories chalk pad in green. I added a matt of corrugated card that came to be in a package the other day, also inked around the edges. The yellow striped paper is from K&Co, a Tim Coffey Design ( Daffodil Pad). Over the top of that I have added a cellophane overlay cut from the wrapping from a bouquet of flowers. The string came from my bits and bobs drawer in the kitchen and I added a flower and button. The image is a digistamp from Digital Stamps by LoubyLoo, I have just added my own sentiment on the computer. Come and visit the Challenge Blog to join in the fun.

Less is more challenge #2

Well here we are week two of the Less is More challenge blog. Congratulations to Chrissie and Mandi for the success of their new venture.
Week 2 :- the theme is a one layer card using a tree or flower. Sounds simple enough I thought to myself.....so why did I feel so nervous as my stamp hovered over the card??
I decided to use the sponging technique Chrissie demonstrated. I have never tried this before. I found it really hard to get a nice even result...although in the end I decided that I quite liked the mottled effect I ended up with....don't know if that is right really...but hey there you go! The sentiment was generated on computer, and the stamp is an old Rubbadubbado stamp that has been lying in my drawer for forever..so it is about time it was used for something. Hope you like!

Less is more challenge

I have just found the time to make something to enter into the new and very first challenge on Less Is More. As it is partly my friend Chrissie's venture I think I should enter.
I have to admit I find the whole less is more concept very hard to do. I really admire the cards that Chrissie makes, they always look so elegant, but when I try to adopt the principle it always seems as though there is something missing somehow! In and effort to "acquire" the knack I am going to enter each challenge (time permitting) and stick very rigidly to the theme.....so her is my first entry:-

The challenge rules are "Clean and simple----black white and pink". Well I think it is clean and simple....where's the pink I hear you shout??? Well the tulip is coloured in with a pink promarker...honestly, it just doesn't show up very well in the photo.

WOYWW

Hi All,

First of all sorry I didn't join in last week...internet problems again..which I hope are now sorted out..finally!
Two things I can show you all this week....week actually one thing and a tease.

First of all a valentines for my husband.
I am studying the Craft Qualifications Centre Certificate in Papercrafting- and this is my first card of the first unit. I wasn't sure what to expect from this course, but I am actually really pleased with it. We have to complete several units over the year, and for each one we have to produce 3 items. For each item we must complete a recipe card. When I first saw the recipe cards I thought they were a bit unnecessary, but having completed 2 now I can see their worth. They really make me think more about what I am using and why. Now you see I said I had done 2..well the other one I can't show you yet because it is for the new challenge launching on Sunday on the Quirky Crafts Challenges Blog. After being lucky enough to win one of their challenges in December I have been invited to join the design team :-). I am very happy to accept and have really enjoyed making my first real contribution. Here is a tease...
Head over to The Stamping Ground (Julia's Blog) to see lots of other crafter's desks to nose around, and projects to see.
